AMS

  • This was our whole school. Arthur Morgan School is a progressive boarding school in the mountains of North Carolina.
  • Hana and Mango. Mango was Nettle’s calf. The teachers took turns milking Nettle and sometimes the students helped.
  • Andrew and Kavita preparing lunch for the school. Andrew lived in my house our first year at AMS.
  • Jake and the boys and the dogs and I lived in Moon House my second year.
  • Every Wednesday we had work projects around the campus, followed by lunch and All-School Meeting.
  • This was our cafeteria. Farm to table was about 50 feet.
  • March 14, Pie Day. Celebrating with my precocious house-child, Emma.
  • Our main academic building was heated by wood stoves. One of my duties was to start the fires before class.
  • I chose to live in Cordwood House my last two years at AMS.
